Hello! My name is Kriti Sharma and I'm a 17 year old senior at Littleton High School. As a student artist, in my free time, I try to create pieces that are both relevant to me and non-academic viewers. The techniques taught in traditional classrooms are then applied to more creative and modern projects that stand out. Before I begin painting, drawing, or planning, I often try to formally indulge in the topic at hand. I will research what other artists have done with the subject and try to formulate it into my own unique style. The idea of what materials I use comes from what kind of detail the subject entails.
In some pieces, I try to include my Indian heritage and the beauty of the culture as it is representative of my experience through American life. I try to experiment with combining elements from different aspects of my life to create interesting pieces. The challenge for artists today is how to be exceptional and one-of-a-kind in a saturated community with total access. With this challenge comes restrictivity, which thrives my vision as it forces me to think outside of the box. My artwork not only speaks for me, but for all young, striving artists in an academic world.
